BONFIRE Night may seem a long time ago now, but we still have happy memories.
For the second year running North Ely recreation ground successfully held a firework display. This year we had more than 3,500 people turn up to enjoy a free display - the crowd was amazing.
All the money made will go towards next year’s display.
I would like through the Echo to say a big thank you to all the partnerships for their funding which allowed the event to happen - Ely and Caerau Communities First,
Neighbourhood Management, Arson Reduction, South Wales Fire and Rescue and Communities First Trust Fund.
I would also like to thank Andy and staff from Ely Play Centre, Chris and staff at North Ely, Karen from the Dusty Forge, Peter Hamblin, Collin Hill and Derek Carson from Parks Department, Indeg and Lucy from Tidy Towns and so many from our community who gave up their free time to steward on the night
What a great job they all did.
Not forgetting Baz for also giving up his free time and providing music and even a bit of karaoke at the end!
All involved put in so much time and effort, for many weeks leading up to the event, to make the firework display the success it was.
I would also like to thank Dragonfire for a wonderful display.
And finally I would like to thank the council for listening to the Ely community and allowing us to keep our green spaces in North Ely.
